What a Certificate of Insurance does
A Certificate of Insurance, often called a COI, proves that the moving company carries liability insurance. Bay Area apartment buildings, condo associations, office buildings, and managed properties often require it before a move-in or move-out can take place.

How we handle building insurance paperwork
Forward the requirements
Ask your current and destination buildings for their moving requirements or COI sample, then send that email or document to your Impel coordinator.
We prepare the certificate
Our team checks the required wording, certificate holder, additional insured details, addresses, and move date so the document matches the building's request.
Management gets approval
We send the COI to building management, handle reasonable follow-up questions, and confirm when the paperwork is ready for move day.

What is a Cal-T or MTR number?+
It is the permit California requires for household goods movers, issued under the Bureau of Household Goods and Services. Ours is Cal-T / MTR 0192323.
Why does a US DOT number matter?+
It authorizes interstate moving. Impel operates under US DOT 3549568 for moves crossing state lines.
Do I pay extra for a Certificate of Insurance?+
No. A standard COI for your building is included when your move requires one. Any unusual insurance wording or special building request is reviewed with you before the move is booked.
What information do you need for a COI?+
Send the building's moving requirements or COI sample. It usually includes the building's legal name, address, certificate holder information, required wording, and a management contact.
How quickly can you issue a Certificate of Insurance?+
Usually within 24-48 business hours after we receive complete building requirements. Send the instructions as early as possible so management has time to approve them before move day.
Does the COI cover my personal belongings?+
No. A COI is for the building's property and common areas. Your belongings are handled under separate valuation terms, which your coordinator can review with you before move day.
